The flagship in Ford's new Ranger family is here, the dual-cab 2012 Wildtrak - the final model to join the line-up.
Revealed last year, the arrival of the Wildtrak in Ford showrooms brings the Ranger line-up to 21 models.
Pricing for the Wildtrak remains unchanged from the $57,390 (plus on-roads) figure confirmed last year.
"We?ve experienced unprecedented demand for the Wildtrak with the vehicles arriving now filling orders well into Q4 this year," General Marketing Manager, Ford Australia, David Katic said.
"The number of other Ranger variants arriving has nearly doubled since the beginning of the year so dealers are starting to get good stocks of all models."
The Wildtrak enters above the well-specced XLT model, adding satellite navigation and a five-inch dash display, a rear-view camera with an in-mirror display, and a combined leather/fabric trim with heated eight-way powered seats.
Externally, the Wildtrak gets 18-inch alloy wheels, a unique sports-bar and new roof rails, Wildtrak badging and graphics, and - among others - the "Chilli Orange" hero colour.
Safety features include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) incorporating ABS, Hill Launch Assist, Trailer Sway Control, Load Adaptive Control, Emergency Brake Assist and Roll Over Mitigation and Emergency Brake Light. There's also front seat side airbags and curtain airbags.
As with the XLT, the Wildtrak is powered by a 3.2 litre five-cylinder turbodiesel, producing 147kW at 4700rpm and 470Nm between 1500 and 2750rpm.
The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed auto available as an option.
Fuel consumption is listed at 9.4 l/100km, with CO2 emissions at 248g/km.
Last year, The Motor Report awarded the Ranger - and its development twin, the Mazda BT-50 - as the Best Buy cars of 2011.
